Traditional farming predominates in rural areas with greenhouse cultivation in geothermal parts of the South Iceland. Several towns have developed this technique.

In South Iceland, you can find all kinds of natural wonders; glaciers, rivers, geysers, volcanoes, waterfalls and mountains.

The South also boasts the most historic site of Iceland, Thingvellir.  Various important events in the Icelandic Sagas took place at Thingvellir.
