Getting to Iceland
As Iceland is an island (and a fairly remote one actually …), there are quite limited options in terms of getting to the country. But don´t worry - as direct flight routes to Iceland are available from all major cities in Europe and North America.
Iceland has two international airlines; Icelandair and Iceland Express, which account for the vast majority of those who visit Iceland. The airlines network reaches over 30 destinations in Europe in North America, the biggest and most frequently operated routes being London and Copenhagen. Several charter airlines, mainly from various locations in Europe, offer flights to Iceland during the summertime.
Direct flights to Iceland are available from all major cities in Europe and North America, including Paris, Barcelona, Glasgow, Oslo, Stockholm, Helskinki, Berlin, Amsterdam, Boston, New York, Orlando and Seattle – just to name a few.
Iceland can also be reached via the Smyril Line ferry “Norræna” which operates from Denmark and the Faroe Islands and takes dock in Seydisfjordur in east Iceland.
Iceland is definitely not as far away as you might think, and flight times from the majority of destinations in Europe is usually no longer then 3-4 hours.
