Northern Lights Tour RE
Book this packageThe Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis are a spectacular natural phenomenon, often seen dancing around in fantastic colours across the Arctic sky. The Northern lights originate from the sun, where large explosions and electronic storms throw flares and solar particles deep into space. These clouds of solar particles are caught by the Earth's magnetic field on the south and north poles. The solar particles collide with the atmospheric gases and create this wonderful light effect, known as the Aurora Borealis or the Northern Lights.
Northern Lights can be seen when certain weather conditions are fulfilled, usually during crispy cold and very still evenings. Due to this, we reserve the right to cancel the tour if the evening sky is heavily clouded or weather conditions are not favourable.
From experience, we decide where each journey will lead us, built on the best possibilities to see the Northern Lights. We drive off from Reykjavík in the south-west direction, away from the heavy glow of the city into the darkness of the country-side. Together with the guide and driver, passangers will search for these magnificent auroras.
Please wear warm clothing as winter nights in Iceland can get quite cold.
