Around the Volcano: Thorsmork & Southshore

Eyjafjallajokull Volcano - from all sides!

This full day Super Jeep tour takes you around the Eyjafjallajokull volcano; from Thorsmork Valley on the north side to the black beaches south of the volcano. Glaciers, volcanoes, glacial rivers (which you will be crossing on the jeep!), beautiful waterfalls, canyons and unforgettable panoramic views are amongst the highlights of this tour.

You depart from Reykjavik early morning and drive towards Eyjafjallajokull glacier in south Iceland. Gigjokull glacier is a glacier fall from Eyjafjallajokull from where the melted ice from the eruption came bursting down and created a destructive flood on its way to sea. You will see the riversides and how the floods affected the surroundings.

From there, you continue towards Seljalandsfoss waterfall - where you can walk behind the cascade. After a picnic lunch you will visit areas only accessible with 4x4 Super Jeeps. Other stops on the way include nature spots with unique flora, black beaches and Skogafoss waterfall.
